Planted it in a sunny corner of the pond and within a few months pulled up corms that were genuinely far crisper and sweeter than anything I've had from a tin. One single plant gave me close to 2kg of them, which felt like a bargain.

Pulled the first corm out of the pot today and was shocked at the crunch—far crisper than anything I've ever had from a can. The single plant has already thrown off about a kilo of fresh chestnuts after just a few months in a half-barrel.

I was skeptical about growing my own water chestnuts, but this single plant in a midi pot has already produced about a kilogram of crisp, sweet corms. Way better than anything from a can.
