Restore by Sandra Schwarz

This book’s shift from viewing gardens as status symbols to focusing on their restorative power really changed how I think about my own patio. I never realized how much history was packed into the simple act of planting a flower.

I’ve been reading through the history of gardens as healing spaces and it really changed how I see my own backyard. The way this book ties the design of green areas to emotional restoration is exactly what I needed.

The section on gardens as status symbols gave me a whole new lens for understanding public parks. I've already revisited the chapter on sensory restoration twice.
