羽衣甘藍 'Dwarf Blue Scotch'

I've been growing kale for years and this is the first variety that actually stayed tender through our August heatwave. The tight frilly leaves are perfect for salads and never turned bitter.

The tight frilly leaves held up beautifully through both a chilly snap and a scorching week, and they still tasted mild and fresh. I’ve picked it steadily for a month now, and it keeps sending out new growth without bolting.

Even through our record heatwave this summer these kale plants kept producing tender, frilly blue-green leaves without a hint of bitterness. I’ve never had a brassica hold up so well in the heat. Definitely planting these again next season.
