These 'Cylindra' beets are fantastic for tight garden beds since the roots grow straight down, and the flavor is just as sweet as any round variety. I've been harvesting them tender and they're perfect for pickling.

The elongated shape let me plant them much closer together than regular beets, and they still bulked up beautifully. Harvested a few at golf-ball size and they were incredibly sweet and tender.
