I was honestly surprised by how tender these beans are — no tough strings at all. They cooked up quickly and had that old-fashioned, rich flavor you just don't find anymore.

The pods really are as thick and fleshy as the old description promises — no tough strings at all even when I let them get a bit big. I've been picking a handful every other day for fresh eating and the flavor is sweet and tender, just like Burpee said.

Planted these in late May and the vines grew like crazy, covering the trellis in no time. The first harvest of those broad, thick pods was incredibly tender and had that old-fashioned bean flavor you just don’t find anymore.
