Whilst this exceptional Polish heirloom pre-dates the 1900s, it was originally introduced to the United States in the early 1900s by Polish immigrants and most of it's history starts from this point. A dark pink beefsteak with exceptional sweetness due to it's low acid fruit, it is a vigorous plant that needs room to grow, but will certainly reward you with ample fruit over a long season. Introduced by The Diggers Club, from seed preserved in our seed archive which was noted as exceptional in a trial at Heronswood in 2002, this heirloom was made available to Diggers members in 2022, thanks to the efforts of our seed production program and seed vault.

Edward J. ★★★★★

The seedlings are stocky and sturdy, not leggy at all—which I’ve struggled with in other heirloom tomatoes. I’m already seeing a few tiny green fruits forming, and the plants smell wonderfully like true tomato foliage.

John Z. ★★★★★

The seeds sprouted quickly and the seedlings look vigorous—exactly what I hoped for from an heirloom variety with such a long history. I'm already planning to save seeds for next season.

Christopher E. ★★★★★

These 'Soldaki' seeds germinated in under a week, even with my inconsistent watering schedule. The fact that it's an heirloom variety with pre-1900s Polish roots makes me feel like I'm growing a piece of history in my own backyard. I've already got six strong seedlings sprouting true leaves.
