The vibration setting is strong enough that I notice it from my patio, and it's simple to stake into the ground. I've only had it a few weeks, so I can't say for sure if it's keeping them away long-term.

Set it up near the compost bin where I’d spotted a slitherer last summer, and it’s been quiet since. The solar sensor seems to pick up movement well, though I did have to adjust the angle once for a clearer trigger zone. Wish it covered a bit more ground, but for the price it’s doing the job.
