Silvio’s Yellow Flat bean is more than just a delicious, prolific heirloom - it’s a living tribute to resilience, tradition, and the migrant story. Brought to Australia by Italian families from the Veneto region, near the Austrian border, this treasured bean has been lovingly passed down through generations, shared among tight-knit communities in places like Wonthaggi and generously brought to us by Andrew Henshaw.

Finely dice an onion, top and tail beans (they have no strings). Boil or steam for about 3 minutes. Drain thoroughly. Immediately add onion and a little olive oil to the pot, mix and replace the lid immediately.  Allow the flavours to blend for a few minutes, and ENJOY.

Henry Y. ★★★★★

The pods on these beans are beautifully flat and tender, perfect for slicing into salads without any stringiness. I've already harvested twice as much as I expected from a small patch, and the plants are still going strong.

Riley T. ★★★★★

Planted these in late spring and the vines absolutely took off, giving us more flat beans than we could eat by mid-summer. They have that old-fashioned, meaty texture that holds up beautifully in a slow-simmered ragu.

William ★★★★★

These seeds carry a real piece of history, and they sprouted fast with almost no fuss. I love that the story behind them is just as rich as the harvest, and the yellow pods are a standout in the garden.
