Packhams Triumph

An Australian heirloom originating in NSW in 1896, Australia's best known and most popular pear variety. The light green skin turns pale yellow when ripe indicating it's time to sink your teeth into the juicy, sweet, white flesh. Can be used for eating fresh and for cooking.

Pear 'Josephine de Malines'

Named Josephine after the wife of breeder Major Esperen and the town they were discovered, Malines in Belgium. Major Esperen, a well-known pomologist, began cultivating this delicious heirloom variety from a chance seedling in 1830. Josephine pears, short for Josephine de Malines pears were also awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Garden of Merit in 1993. Pollinate with 'Packham's Triumph' and best grown in a warm spot in the garden.

Amelia ★★★★★

I’ve been watching the Packham’s Triumph for a few weeks now and it’s already putting out new leaves—such a vigorous little tree. The Josephine de Malines arrived just as sturdy, with a nice rootball that made planting easy.

Harper ★★★★★

Both trees came well-rooted and healthy, and I love that the Packham's Triumph is a true Aussie heirloom from 1896. Watching the skin shift from light green to pale yellow as it ripens is such a satisfying signal that it's time to pick.

The Josephine de Malines arrived with a surprisingly sturdy root system for a bare-root tree, and I love that the Packham's Triumph is an Australian heirloom with that distinct pale yellow ripeness clue. Both are already showing new growth after just two weeks in the ground.
