Category: Plants

A dwarf self-pollinating papaya suitable for pots and smaller gardens. One of the most cold tolerant varieties available. The sweet, melting flesh of the papaya is the epitome of exotic backyard fruit, but you don't have to live in the tropics to grow your own. Happily growing outside in cooler areas if planted in a protected spot, preferably against a north-facing wall. Will also grow well in a pot inside where it's tropical-looking leaves create a striking effect. Self-pollinating so no need for more than one plant for fruit.

Planted this dwarf papaya in a large pot on my patio, and it's already putting out new leaves despite a few chilly nights. The self-pollinating flowers are a huge plus for small-space gardening. Can't wait to taste those sweet, melting fruits.

The potted 'Red Lady' settled in quickly on my patio, and the dwarf size is perfect for the corner I gave it. The self-pollinating flowers are a huge plus—I didn't have to fuss with a second tree, and the fruit's flesh is genuinely sweet and melting. Cold tolerance was the real test, and it sailed t
