Category: Plants

First discovered in a private garden in New Zealand in the 1800s as a chance seedling. A popular heirloom still considered by many as one of the best flavoured nectarines. One of the best-tasting nectarines with a reliable crop, 'Goldmine' is an old Californian variety that also has good resistance to leaf curl. Fruiting within two years of planting, expect the beautifully flavoured, white-fleshed nectarines from late February into March. Suitable for fan-training and espalier. Self-pollinating.

Picked the first ripe one this morning and the flesh was so sweet and juicy it practically melted. You can really taste why this heirloom from the 1800s is still so popular. Already planning where to plant a second tree.

I’ve never tasted a nectarine this intensely sweet and juicy straight off the tree—it’s like candy with a hint of honey. The fruit has that perfect balance of firmness and melt-in-your-mouth texture.

Benjamin ★★★★★

My neighbor grows these and I was jealous, but now my own young tree just set its first fruit. The flesh is meltingly soft with that intense heirloom sweetness you rarely find anymore. So glad I tracked down this old variety.
