Lettuce 'Tennis Ball'

I’ve been looking for a good butterhead that’s true to its history, and this one really delivers. The leaves are so soft and tender, with that perfect pale green color, and the loose heads are just right for small salads.

These tiny, loose heads are exactly what I was hoping for – soft, pale green leaves with a delicate, buttery texture that melts in your mouth. It's fun knowing I'm growing the same lettuce Thomas Jefferson enjoyed.

Planted these in early spring and they've been forming those lovely soft pale green heads just as described. The texture is incredibly tender for a homegrown lettuce, and knowing it's an heirloom variety Jefferson grew adds a nice bit of garden history to each salad.
