Iresine herbstii

Planted it under a tree where nothing else would grow, and the crimson leaves really pop against the mulch. The soil was still clinging to the roots when it arrived, so it settled in fast with no transplant shock.

The burgundy leaves are exactly the rich crimson shown in the photos, and they’ve held their color beautifully in a shady corner by my porch. Even after a week of settling in, the plant looks fuller and healthier than when it arrived.

I’ve been looking for a plant that can handle deep shade and still bring bold color, and the rich crimson leaves of this Iresine herbstii are exactly what my garden needed. The burgundy foliage stands out beautifully under the trees, and it arrived looking healthy and full.
