Whilst generally regarded as an ancient tree of Chinese origin, evidence has been found in Victoria, Australia of Ginkoites, direct relatives of the Ginko biloba, posing the question - is this ancient tree an Australia native? Definitely from Gondwana origins, its fan-shaped leaves have been found embedded in Australia's ancient rocks and black coal (Wonthaggi, Vic), making it one of our oldest native trees. Our seeds come from Melbourne's biggest Ginkgo, in the garden of a Diggers member. In your garden, its gorgeous leaves will turn yellow in autumn and it will thrive through frost and humidity. Seed grown. Slow growth rate.

Sebastian B. ★★★★★

I was intrigued by the mention of its ancient Australian relatives in the description, and it arrived healthy with a strong root system. The leaves have a unique, fan-like shape that really stands out in my living room.

The card mentions its ancient Australian connection, which is such a cool detail I didn’t expect from a plant order. The Ginkgo arrived well-packed and the leaves have a unique fan shape that stands out in my garden.

I was fascinated reading the info card about the Ginkoites fossils found in Victoria—it adds such a cool historical layer to growing this tree. The sapling arrived healthy and the root ball was well-wrapped for shipping.
