Category: Seeds

A French heirloom carrot dating back to the late 1880s, this short, fat carrot is perfect for heavy or shallow soils, pushing its way through soils that other carrots simply would not tolerate. Excellent for beginner gardeners or those still working on their soils, this short variety is also suitable for pots and container gardening. Excellent flavour, slow to run to seed and stores well. Also sometimes referred to as the Guerande carrot after the walled town in western France where it was said to originate.

Matthew G. ★★★★★

Finally, a carrot that thrives in my rocky soil instead of forking or stunting. The short, fat shape makes harvesting a breeze, and the flavor is surprisingly sweet for a tough heirloom.

Benjamin ★★★★★

I’ve been gardening in heavy clay for years and these short, fat carrots finally gave me a decent harvest. They pushed right through the tough soil without any fuss — just what I needed.

Jason ★★★★★

These fat little carrots didn't even blink at my rocky soil, just pushed right through it. I was skeptical about a short carrot, but the shape makes harvesting so much easier since you don't have to dig a foot down.
