Bur Oak - Main image

Category: Plants

A superb summer shade tree and architectural feature in winter, the Bur Oak develops a massive trunk up to 3m in diameter and a broad horizontal branching structure that is equally impressive in leaf or in dormancy. Like most oaks, the Bur Oak is a very long lived species, commonly reaching 200-300 years old, with some known specimens living to 400 years. Plant one today for the enjoyment of many future generations. Bur Oaks are slow to develop as young trees but growth rate improves once established.

Natalie ★★★★★

Planted this as a young sapling two seasons ago and it's already putting on noticeable growth each year. Can't wait to see that massive trunk develop over time, the winter silhouette is going to be stunning.

Christopher ★★★★★

The branching structure is already starting to spread out nicely after just one season, exactly what I hoped for. I can already picture the massive trunk it will develop over the years, making it a real focal point.

Eva ★★★★★

Planted this as a centerpiece in the yard and the trunk is already thickening faster than my other oaks. The broad horizontal branches should give amazing shade in a few summers.
