Bean 'Violet Queen'

My kids were absolutely fascinated when the purple beans turned green in the pot—they ate their vegetables without any fuss! The vines grew well even in our cooler spot by the fence.

I planted these in late spring and was surprised how quickly the vines took off even with our cooler nights. The kids were absolutely thrilled when the purple pods turned green in the stir-fry, made dinner way more fun. Harvested a good handful every few days and they tasted lovely and fresh.

My kids kept poking the pods every day waiting for them to turn purple, and the harvest didn't disappoint—they went wild watching them fade to green in the pan. Even in our chilly patch, the vines grew sturdy and productive, and the fresh beans tasted noticeably sweeter than the store-bought ones.
