パニカム・ビルガタム 'ヘビーメタル'

Planted this 'Heavy Metal' switchgrass in a spot that gets full sun and poor soil, and it’s already showing that classic blue-green foliage. The upright, metallic-looking leaves add a nice vertical accent to my coastal garden, and it hasn't needed extra watering despite the dry spell.

Planted it in a sandy, windy corner near the coast and it's held up through two storms without so much as a bent stem. The drought tolerance is the real winner for me—I've barely watered it since late spring and it still looks sharp.

The steel-blue colour of the foliage is just stunning in the afternoon light, exactly what I wanted for a dry, exposed border. It’s already put on a good amount of growth just a few weeks after planting.
